“The Hobbit” is a classic fantasy novel written by J.R.R. Tolkien. The story follows Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit who is reluctantly swept into an epic adventure when the wizard Gandalf and a group of dwarves recruit him as a burglar to help them reclaim their homeland from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Along the way, Bilbo encounters trolls, elves, goblins, and other fantastical creatures, and he discovers courage and resourcefulness within himself. The novel is known for its rich world-building, memorable characters, and the exploration of themes such as bravery, friendship, and the desire for adventure. “The Hobbit” serves as a prelude to Tolkien’s more extensive Middle-earth legendarium, which includes “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.Photo Credit: Josafath Reynoso
