“American Mariachi” by José Cruz González is a captivating play that explores themes of tradition, family, and the power of music. Set in the 1970s, the story follows Lucha, a young woman with a passion for mariachi music, as she defies societal expectations and challenges gender norms to pursue her dream of forming an all-female mariachi band.
